Biggest celebrity gamblers

There are a number of big named stars who like to flash the cash, with some heading to the casino’s to try their luck. Some head to the casinos in their spare time, other enter big tournaments, where stakes and process are in the millions. Some of these stars also have been reported to have been addicted to gambling and sought treatment for addiction issues and not so legal gambling methods.

1. Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Tobey Maguire and Leonardo DiCaprio

The quartet of award winning actors were part of a group busted for participating in an illegal underground Poker ring, it had a $100,000 buy in. and took place in a multi-million dollar Beverly Hills mansion. Both Toby Maguire and Ben Affleck have sought treatment for their gambling addiction in the past.

2. Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods made headlines for his extra marital affairs and sex addition, however he also is supposed to have a bit of a gambling addiction too. Swapping one vice for another is a comping method for many addicts. Its rumoured he bets $25,000 per hand when playing blackjack. And as a high roller he spend a lot of time gambling with Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley who are also known to be gambling addicts.

3. Charles Barkley

The famous NFL star has admitted to losing nearly $10 million and incredible $2.5 million in just one night of blackjack. However since losing $700,000 by betting on the Super Bowl he has changed his ways and stated in 2008 that he would not gable ever again. But that wasn’t the end of his troubles, he was sued by a casino because he owed them $400,000.

4. Michael Jordan

Star athlete Michal Jordan, one of the richest sports players also has a serious gambling problem. In 1993 he lost $165,000 in Atlantic City, with his poker skills being way below that of his basketball skills. One rumour is that his gambling addiction forced him into retirement from basketball.

5. Allen Iverson

Gambling addiction and sports seem to go hand in hand. For basketball player Allen Iverson it unfortunate got him into a whole heap of debt. Over his career in basketball he is said to have earned over a cool $200million, however he is now broke and in debt with a failed marriage on lost sponsorship deals. Additionally he has found himself in serious trouble with a number of casinos, being banned by a number in Atlantic City and Detroit for unreasonable behaviour.

6. Ashton Kutcher

“I actually used to be a front for the largest national sports-betting syndicate in America. So, generally these types of individuals aren’t allowed to gamble, but they know how to handicap the house. So they sent me in. I basically just placed the bet…We were clearing, like, $750,000 in four weeks of college football. It was pretty fun. Then they caught on. 7. Ray Romano

The Everyone Love Raymond star, checked himself in for gambling addiction when it became a big problem. Although he still occasionally likes to have a flutter, as part of the World Series of Poker, he has curbed his spending.

8. Charlie Sheen

Another actor with known addictions to drugs and women, Sheen also has been known to lose a lot of his money gambling. It’s claimed by his ex-wife Denise Richards the former Two and a Half Men star was spending over $200,000 each week on gambling. Shockingly he placed a sports bet over his phone while rushing to the hospital for his daughter’s birth.

9. Joe Francis

The creator of Girls Gone Wild, Joe Francis was once sued by the Wynn Hotel group owned my Vegas Magnate Steve Wynn, due to unpaid gambling debts to the tune of $2million.

10. John McCain

The State Senator was caught playing VIP Poker on his iPhone in 2013 during an important hearing regarding US intervention in Syria. There have been many stories leaked about his gambling habits, most of which have been successfully hushed up. One of which was that the Senator enjoyed 12-24 hour gambling binges according to sources it was next to impossible to pry him away from the craps tables.
